History shows that many people have interests in benefiting from the world of sports and games not only to achieve happiness but also to have a better life. But due to a number of reasons, limitation, barriers, obstacles, many people have not benefited from sports and games. It’s the reason as why many parents resort to informal education because it is the only language they listen and understand in Uganda, therefore they do not feel comfortable to fully engage their children in sports however as an organization we have tried to organize tournaments unfortunately due to financial challenges we’ve not succeeded.

Therefore TNGFU has come up with a sports program or project still to strengthen what we had already started from different communities to discover and promote people’s talents especially games and sports as well music dance and drama to children to prepare for their better future career since it is a source of employment opportunity

  • Challenges facing games and sports in Uganda today.

There are a number of challenges facing sports in Uganda and these include the following;

  • Lack of funding and resources
  • Lack of better play grounds (stadium)
  • Lack of access to quality equipment
  • Limited access to sporting facilities
  • Lack of knowledge and awareness of the importance of sports and games
  • Lack of qualified coaches and trainers
  • Lack of support for women and girls in sports as well as lack of gender equality in sports
  • Lack of government in sports which limits the potential for growth and development
  • Lack of collaboration between the government, private sector and civil society to promote games and sports in the community as well Uganda.

• Solutions.

Games and sports can be improved in Uganda to support development by increasing access
to quality equipment, facilities and coaches as well as by increasing government investment in sport.

There should be a greater focus on promoting gender equality in sports and on providing
opportunities for women and girls to participate in sports.

There should be increased collaboration between the government, private sector and civil
society to promote sports in Uganda.

There should be increased awareness and education about the importance of games and
sports and its potential for social and economic developments.
